Mixed Media Grid Journaling in Your Sketchbook
Building on last week’s video using complementary colors, this week I’m adding in collage. We get to have fun with this mixed media twist that can make your creative practice even more interesting. You can make your own collage papers by making marks on tracing paper, that’s what I use in this video. Magazines are another excellent source of collage material. Watch the video to see my process and then try it out in your sketchbook.
Playing with the amount of water in your acrylic paint is an amazing way to learn about transparency and layering. In this video and last week’s video, I tried watering down my paint to a watercolor consistency and I love the results.
I didn’t know how much I liked it until I tried it. That’s the power of exploring without any end result in mind. It gives you freedom to play.
Use your sketchbook as your creative playground. Continually try new paint colors, new materials, and new ways of making marks. Your soul is nourished when you allow it to flow onto the page.
