Why Mark Making Can Be a Carefree Way To Finish a Painting
This is part 4 of a 4-part series where I take you through the many layers of a floral painting.
Adding final details can seem scary because you don’t want to mess anything up.
Side note: It can always be a bit scary, but we push through the uncomfortable here.
Small changes can have a big impact on a finished piece.
One of the best ways to practice making marks is in your sketchbook. Do a mini painting and add marks to that before you add them to your larger painting. It will give you an idea of what you like and what you don’t like.
With practice, you can begin to make marks without worry.
Today, I’m going to show you how I use various mark making tools to add details to the layers of paint I added last week.
